Types of Intellectual Property rights

Amazon has four types of IP rights that all Amazon sellers need to be aware of to protect their account.

1. Copyright

This applies to any form of creative work such as books, art pieces, music, content, photography etc. It is probably one of the more commonly known IP rights.

2. Trademark

This is important for brand protection. It protects logos, names, symbols, terms and more.

3. Utility Patent

Just as it sounds, the purpose of this is to protect the functionality over the design. Replicating the same function, even under a different design would be an infringement.

4. Design Patent

These are patents to protect the design of a product. Selling knock-offs that have a patent on the design would be in infringement of the patent.
