  1. MWC Barcelona (February 27 to March 2, 2023, at Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, Spain)

Also known as Mobile World Congress, MWC Barcelona is one of the largest trade fairs in the world focused on mobile technology and telecommunications. Organized by the Groupe Speciale Mobile Association (GSMA), MWC features not only the latest mobile and telecom products but also keynote speeches and panel discussions on topics such as 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) and more. According to GSMA, this year’s edition of the show will feature 2,000 exhibitors from 200 countries and territories, and about 80,000 attendees, half of whom are director-level or higher in their companies.

  1. Lighting Fair (February 28 to March 3, 2023, at Tokyo Big Sight, Tokyo, Japan)

One of the largest electrical shows in Japan, Lighting Fair attracts an international audience. This trade show presents a wide range of the newest lighting products for residential, office, store, factory, street, security, exterior, stage and studio, vehicle, agricultural, fisheries and medical and infectious disease control purposes. Products include LED modules and bulbs, fluorescent lamps, CCFLs, OLED lights, lighting control equipment, power supplies, heat sinks, switches, packaging materials and others. According to organizer Messe Nikkei, this year’s show will feature 134 exhibitors and the estimated number of visitors is at least 96,000.

  1. Global Sources Consumer Electronics Online Show (March 4 to 17, 2023; online)

Slated for March 4 to 17, 2023, this online show aims to help buyers from all parts of the world discover and interact with suppliers of consumer electronics products.

This consumer electronics show will showcase more than 20,000 products that are in high demand in four categories: Consumer Electronics, Electronic Components, Smart Living Electronics and Mobile Electronics. The online fair will also feature B2B live-streaming services connecting suppliers to buyers. About a million buyers are forecast to participate. This online electronics show is organized by Global Sources, the originator of the world’s first professional online B2B sourcing platform in 1995.

  1. Embedded World (March 14 to 16, 2023, at Messezentrum 1, Nuremberg, Germany)

This is an exhibition and conference for embedded systems and technologies, covering everything from hardware and software to tools and services. Among the products and solutions covered are electronic displays, machine-to-machine (M2M) communication, safety and security solutions and integrated circuit design. Last year’s edition had 720 exhibitors from 39 countries and 20,000sqm of rented booth space. The show organizer is Nurnberg Messe.

  1. Global Sources Hong Kong Show (April 11 to 14 and April 18 to 21, 2023, at AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong)

Organized by 20-year trade show veteran Global Sources, this show comprises five trade fairs – Consumers Electronics & Components, Mobile Electronics, Smart Home & Appliances, Lifestyle x Fashion and Home & Kitchen – with some 10,000 products on display.

This Hong Kong trade fair attracts senior management as well as sourcing and product development executives of major international retailers, manufacturers, brand owners, Amazon and other online sellers and venture capitalists. Also featured in this exhibition are seminars in which sourcing and industry leaders are expected to share the latest technology trends as well as tips on how to grow a business.

  1. Hong Kong Electronics Fair (April 12 to 22, 2023, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong)

The Hong Kong Electronics Fair is an electronics show that takes place twice a year, in spring and fall. International exhibitors showcase products covering categories such as computers, digital cameras, audio, PC games, navigation systems, home theater, and more.  This electronics trade show also features seminars where speakers discuss market trends, business opportunities and industry challenges. This fair is organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

  1. Hong Kong International Lighting Fair/Spring Edition (April 12 to 15, 2023, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong)

The Hong Kong International Lighting Fair is an international trade fair for lighting design and technology touted as “the biggest of its kind” in Asia. On display will be the latest products grouped into the following “specialist zones”: LED Lighting, Green Lighting, Household Lighting, Commercial Lighting, Outdoor Lighting, Lighting Accessories, Parts & Components, Lighting Management and Design & Technology. The show is organized by the HKTDC.

  1. Hannover Messe (April 17 to 21, 2023, at the Hanover Fair Ground, Hanover, Germany)

Organized by Deutsche Messe, this year’s edition of this famous trade show covering industrial technology has both a physical and digital component, with the latter accessible via an exclusive app through which visitors are given “guided tours” of products in the show. At least 2,700 exhibitors and 8,400 products are expected to be on display. Indonesian President Joko Widodo is expected to be at the opening ceremony, as Indonesia is the fair’s partner country for the year and top technological innovations from the country will be among the key features of the exhibition.

  1. IFA Berlin (Sept 1 to 5, 2023, at Messe Berlin, Berlin, Germany)

Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin or IFA Berlin has been described as the “world’s largest” home appliances and consumer electronics show in the world. First held in 1924, this trade fair attracts manufacturers, dealers, buyers and experts from the electronics industry. According to the show organizer, this year’s IFA Berlin will feature some 2,000 exhibiting companies with about 150,000 show visitors projected to attend. At least 250 consumer electronics industry thought leaders have also been invited to speak in various forums scheduled at the show. IFA Berlin is organized by Messe Berlin GmbH.

  1. China International Industry Fair (November 2023, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center, Shanghai, China)

Organized by Donghang Laosheng Group Co. Ltd, the CIIF is hosted by several government agencies in China including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Science and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

The CIIF includes several themed sub-shows. One is the Information & Communication Technology Show (ICTS) with exhibits on smart city solutions, cloud computing & big data, software and information services, networking equipment, next generation displays and information security, among others. There is also the Energy Show (ES), which focuses on new energy electric, smart grid, industrial electrical equipment, power generation and distribution, and electrical technology.
